Tom Bont, President of Bont Software & Control Systems out of Corinth, spends his spare time competing in amateur country ballroom competitions around the nation. He’s always loved dancing, realizing at the age of 13 that girls like guys who can dance, but just recently started taking his hobby a bit more seriously. He and his wife enrolled in their first dance class about nine years ago in Denton, but three years ago he decided to take it to the next level. He has since found a professional dance coach who teaches and mentors him, Gretchen Smith, and they dance in Professional/Amateur competitions for the United Country Western Dance Council. During his Newcomer and Novice years, he and his pro won WORLD championships in the 50-year-old and 40-year-old categories, and in the 2022 season as an Intermediate he won 2nd and 3rd, respectively. This year, he is dancing in advanced, and hopes to win enough points to go pro in a few years.
